A fifty thousand pound lottery grant could help keep a hoard of Roman coins in Bath.

The Beau Street Hoard of 20,000 silver coins was discovered by archaeologists in 2007 and is thought to be the fifth largest find of its kind in the UK.

Some of the coins date back as far as 32BC and are currently being cleaned at the British Museum.

Bath and North East Somerset Council want to bring back the coins to the area and said they wanted to develop learning and community activities around the hoard.

A mobile roadshow would visit towns and villages around Bath and the coins would then eventually be displayed at the Roman Baths.

If you want to learn more about the coins or find out more about the Romans in Bath book a Canal Boat Holiday from Hilperton.

Walk in the footsteps of the Romans at the Roman Baths and hear the stories from the people who lived and worked there 2,000 years ago.

See the waters source that still flows with natural hot water today and visit The Spa Visitor Centre and learn about its history, culture and traditions that grew round this most famous of Britains spa towns.

For fashion lovers the Fashion Museum hosts a world class collection of contemporary and historical dress.

Included in the display are 150 dressed figures to illustrate the changing styles in fashionable clothes.

One of Baths most famous residents was Jane Austen and you can see a snapshot of her life at the The Jane Austen Centre.

Bath was her home from 1801 to 1806 and life in the city is reflected in two of her novels Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.

The Royal Crescent is one of the city's best known and recognised landmarks and was built between 1767 and 1775 it was designed by John Wood the younger.
