According to tradition the Vale of Evesham Asparagus Season starts on 23rd April, St Georges Day and ends on Midsummers Day.

The celebrations kicks off today with the Great British Asparagus Run and the first cutting round of asparagus and will include all the pomp and ceremony you would expect on Saint George's Day.

The Run begins at the Fleece Inn in Evesham which is the only pub owned by The National Trust.

Following a morning of festivities, the newly harvested asparagus spears are escorted by a fleet of Morgan Cars to destinations such as the House of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.

From then on Worcestershire goes asparagus crazy when scores of pubs and restaurants serve asparagus themed menus.

The shops sell an array of asparagus products ranging from sausages, jam and even ice cream.

From our Canal Boat Holiday location in Worcester cruise the Worcester and Birmingham Canal and enjoy the Asparagus Festival in Worcestershire.

The Vale of Evesham has for hundreds of years be renowned for its horticulture produce.

A Canal Boat Holiday in Worcestershire give you the opportunity of exploring the local countryside at a gentle pace.

Enjoy the scenery and the wildlife as you meander your way along the beautiful Worcester and Birmingham Canal.
